Twitter to Cease Development of Twitter for Mac?

Twitter has reportedly decided to stop development of its Twitter for Mac client, reports MG Siegler.

Word is that Twitter made the call today: Twitter for Mac is done. They won't kill it outright, but no further updates. Goodbye, old friend.

One more thing: had heard whispers of Retina (pretty easy to update) not sure if that made the cut before decision or not.

This move seems strange as Twitter has been instituting new rules making it harder for third party developers to built client applications for its platform.

No official work from Twitter yet. You can download Twitter for Mac from the App Store for free.
