SunGard is making forays into Thailand by offering IT solutions for retail banking with the launch of its flagship solution "Ambit MyMoney". It aims to have 3-4 banks as customers who adopt Ambit MyMoney in the next 4 to 5 years.
Launched late last year, this solution is an integrated online and mobile banking platform, to help banks capitalise on the increasing global adoption of "smart" mobile devices by creating a consistent and customisable mobile banking experience. The new solution helps banks provide seamless online and mobile banking services to retail and business customers via the Web, mobile phone and tablet computer, said Dean Young, product management and vice president Ambit Retail Banking at SunGard.
"MyMoney was launched in November last year. We do not have customers in Asia yet. This year is our first attempt to approach banks in this region with our latest solution that is expected to help them have the ability to create and launch news financial services to serve individual customers in the retail banking segment," said Young.
He added that the banking sector today required innovative technologies to assist them to be dynamic and respond quickly to the market. Apart from the banking core system, the banks are also required to have services available on the mobile phone, Internet and tablet platforms. Also, nowadays, retail banking needs to have a customer-service platform, teller platform, loan application, credits card software management, and tablet products for bank staff.
"Our mobile banking solution is to help banks design and develop innovative financial services to serve across mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, and BlackBerry. It does not yet support the Windows Phone platform," said Young.
"Thailand is a growth market. Banks in Thailand are very successful and most of them are going to become regional banks. We are not new in Thailand but retail banking is a new area for us. Initially, we will use our existing teams to approach customers, but in the long term we plan to have a local system integrator to partner us for taking care of this solution," said Young.
The flagship product for the Thai market is MyMoney, which expects to have 3-4 banks in Thailand adopt this solution in the next 4-5 years. Apart from MyMoney, the company has also introduced a solution for tablets called "Concierge". It is designed to assist bank staff to have ability to design, create, and customise financial products to serve their retail banking customers individually.
The new solutions that the company has designed and developed are aimed at assisting the retail banking sector to cope with current customers' requirements in the era of mobility where they need to mobilise and secure financial services. They also need customisation and seamless services across platforms, from the bank counter, Internet, to mobile devices.
